A headboard is defined as a piece of furniture that is attached to the head of a bed. Traditionally a headboard was used to isolate the sleeper from drafts and cold walls. The headboard would leave space between the bed and the wall and allow the cold air to sink to the floor. If the bed was pushed against the wall then the cold air would settle on the bed making the sleeper uncomfortable. Headboards were made out of wood because wood becomes less cold than bricks or stones. Humanity has made tremendous progress over the years and the improvements in architecture have made the traditional function of a headboard redundant. Still headboard beds are very popular and in this article we will find out more about modern headboards and what the advantages of a headboard bed are.
Metal headboards are a common choice for furnishing modern looking bedrooms. Mostly curvy shaped, they are usually made from metal rods such as wrought iron, brass metal, brushed aluminium or stainless steel. Depending on the type of material your headboard is made from, you can give your bed either an antique design if you go for iron or a sophisticated look if you choose a stainless steel version.
