What is great about designing headboards is the freedom with which you can experiment with your ideas and find out where your imagination will take you. Padded headboards with your favorite colors alternating can add a splash of color to the bedroom as well as fun tufted headboards with velvet fabrics and unique buttons. You need not fret if you're overwhelmed with your choices because what will come out in the end is the innovative design that you have suggested to the carpenter or your interior designer. They should be able to show you a clear picture of your dream bedroom and of course, the perfect headboard that will compliment it.
One option is a detached style which is attached to the wall, the bed being pushed hard up against it. A potential problem with these is that when you come to replace your bed, you either have to redecorate the wall or use a new board of the same size and shape - or even keep the same headboard! You can also get floor-standing versions that are not fixed - a better option than wall-mounted styles.
