For utility purposes- dressers provide storage space for keeping clothes, shoes, linen or children' s things. Some things are stored much more easily in a dresser rather than a full cupboard. Things can be kept in a more organized manner when kept in this piece of furniture and when they are kept in a neat way they can also be found with ease.
The dresser for the bedroom as an essential piece of furniture has been much in demand for centuries. Traditionally, a gentleman's dresser for his bedroom was made of oak or mahogany, usually with two top drawers for stockings, gloves, cravats handkerchiefs and other accouterments. On the top would be placed lace covers and a mirror, that should ideally match the wood of the dresser. The remaining three drawers would be single and capacious enough to carry shirts, woollens and breeches.
