Any home, or a bedroom perhaps have one or two bedside nightstand to keep your essentials at night like the alarm clock, a music box, some books, glasses, some medicines, a laptop or even pictures of your loved ones. Some would think a bedside table is just a piece of furniture to put things on it, and some did not think about its significance, and even the historical value of this loved furniture.
If you're looking for the opulent feeling of a four poster, but don't have the budget, use a triple curtain rod and mount it on the wall behind the bed. On the top rod use a valance to match that used on the windows, on the next hang a pair of matching curtains and at the bottom level hang a contrasting fabric. Then, simply pull the curtain pair apart using tie backs at either side of the bed. The effect is luxurious, and as long as you are careful when you choose your drapes, it won't break the bank.
The dresser for the bedroom as an essential piece of furniture has been much in demand for centuries. Traditionally, a gentleman's dresser for his bedroom was made of oak or mahogany, usually with two top drawers for stockings, gloves, cravats handkerchiefs and other accouterments. On the top would be placed lace covers and a mirror, that should ideally match the wood of the dresser. The remaining three drawers would be single and capacious enough to carry shirts, woollens and breeches.
After size, the style of the nightstands is very important. Many people purchase two of them so that they will have matching ones on both sides of the bed. It can disrupt the look of a room to have two different styles in the same space. Some bedroom sets even come with a matching nightstand, but shoppers may have to consider getting them from a different set if the ones that come with their bedroom set are too large and will not fit in the wall space that they have available. When matching them to the rest of the room, try to find some that are the same color and wood as the rest of the set. Also the style of the handles should be taken into account because it will say a lot about the overall style of the piece. Remember that contemporary pieces should go with contemporary sets, and so forth.
